DCM Services: Supporting our Community and Promoting Positive Change
Throughout 2020, we have all faced many new challenges and obstacles. Aside from navigating the COVID-19 Pandemic, our nation and communities have been greatly impacted by important movements supporting justice and equality. At DCM Services (DCMS), we want to do our part to help make positive change, not only for our employees and clients, but for our communities.
The DCMS Charitable Giving Committee is a devoted cross-functional group that works to organize community service events and donation campaigns that support local and national charitable organizations.
Recently, this committee took time to listen to our employees and understand how to best support surrounding communities through charitable donations. To determine the charities, all employees were included in a survey to nominate, and then vote for, non-profit charities in the Minneapolis metropolitan area.
The 10 charities with the most votes were each given a $1,000 donation and included:
In addition, DCMS also doubled the eligible paid hours for volunteer work annually from 8 to 16 hours per employee. Many of our employees have chosen to use this time recently to help rebuild and support current community needs.
At DCMS, we recognize that change starts from within. One of DCMS’ 2020 initiatives is a renewed focus on diversity and inclusion. We are partnering with the YWCA as part of this initiative. The YWCA offers a program that works with businesses to:
Assess their understanding of diversity and inclusion
Measure gaps in knowledge and culture
Provide training
It has been heartwarming and inspiring to see the outpouring of support from our employees. We are absolutely honored to be able to give back, help our community, and better our company. We are hopeful and inspired and will continue to not only support, but to act as we move ahead in these times.
