The hard-hitting questions

If time and money were not an issue, what hobby would you pursue?

I would be (more of) a bibliophile. Reading has always been one of my favorite pastimes and I have more than enough books, but I would love to collect older and rarer first editions or manuscripts if my budget allowed. My favorite book is the Aeneid, and it would be great to own a 15th Century manuscript version to compliment the mass-produced 19th and 20th Century versions I currently have.

What would be your first question after waking up from being frozen for 100 years?

Given the events of 2020, I am fairly certain my first question would be “Is it finally safe to go to the bar again?”

What is the best way to start the day?

Even though it often involves scratches and bites, having my furry alarm clock (aka my cat) inform me that it is time to get up (mostly to fill his food bowl), get the coffee brewing, and slowly let the caffeine kickstart my brain.

The hard-hitting questions

If time and money were not an issue, what hobby would you pursue?

Travel. My favorite things are family and adventure. If time and money were not a “thing” I’d travel more, to experience cultures and explore the lands (near and far) with family.

I know this is popular, but I just don’t understand the obsession with…

Instagram.

What is something you wish you could go back and tell your 16 year old self?

Enjoy those homemade meals and learn your mom’s ways of cooking/canning/baking. 😊

What is special about the place you grew up?

Milbank, South Dakota

Milbank, South Dakota

“You’ll like Milbank” signs plastered throughout the rural town of Milbank, South Dakota. It was always a running joke anytime I met other people from surrounding towns, as if we were trying to brainwash ourselves and anyone driving through town. On a serious note, Milbank is special because of the sense of community amongst the small town folk living the simple life.

The hard-hitting questions

If time an money were not an issue, what hobby would you pursue?

I would pursue my passion and travel internationally working more with groups I’ve had the privilege to develop relationships with by mentoring and developing future leaders.

What is the best way to start the day?

The best way to start my day is by first taking time to reflect on the people and positive things in life before all the tasks ahead of me.

What is special about the place you grew up?

I grew up in a rural community where we fostered lifelong relationships and the pace was slower than in the city.

The hard-hitting questions

If you were sheriff in town, what is the first law you would create?

The toilet paper roll needs to roll from under, not on top. I don’t care what the 1891 patent picture tells you.

If your life we measured by data, what statistic would you most like to see?

How many times a day I laugh or make someone else chuckle. Humor is something I value very much. I have an endless library of movie quotes in my head and I also love a good old fashioned cheesy joke. Hey, did you hear that one about the wind mills?

There are two types of people in this world. What are the two types?

Those who watch Games of Thrones, and those who don’t. If I tell someone to send a raven, or that my necklace is made of Valyrian steel and they know I’m talking about, well, then I know I’m in good company. If they haven’t watched the show, I immediately reassign all of my life priorities and put my salesman cap on. And when it comes to this topic… Always. Be. Closing.
